ULN-8

The Ultimate DAC

The DAC is placed after the convolution computer and before the amp. So, I am using it as a preamp as well. ULN-8 is a product that has undergone a many many years of development phase with beta units used by many sound engineers before it was available to you and me. It is an engineering master piece.

Feature list :

192k sample rate support for both Analog and AES Inputs and Outputs

New DC-coupled, zero phase distortion, servo balanced Line Inputs and Outputs

ULN-R next generation remote controlled preamp technology. The Mic Pres in the ULN-8 build upon the audio performance pioneered by the ULN-2 preamp design with the additional benefit and technological innovation of full clickless remote control of the ULN Mic pre. This is accomplished with a sophisticated gain switching mechanism which incorporates Metric Halo “zero-cross” technology.

Fully clickless remote controlled Monitor outputs. All ULN-8 analog outputs incorporate Metric Halo clickless remote technology allowing for flexible monitoring applications from stereo to 7.1 surround.

It sounds smooth, detailed and analytical. All the micro and macro dynamics are preserved especially because I am using digital crossover. Barry Diament describe it as hearing from a direct microphone feed! It is that transparent!

One feature I found important to me is that I can serve as a top class preamp with remote control too! Output impedance is only 5 ohms!

Here are the steps to setup the remote properly (thanks to Steve Devino)

LN-8 is also very functional, you can set many different characters by employing different flavor in the character set

And I can use this remote control to control 8 channels together!!
